The short answer
More people now ask an AI assistant for a recommendation instead of scrolling a list of links. When the assistant names three businesses, the others don't get a look.
This tool asks one assistant, Gemini with Google Search, one question, once. It's a quick way to see where you stand and, more usefully, which sources the assistant trusts for your kind of business.
What this check can't tell you
- What ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot or Google's AI Overviews would say. They use different sources.
- What a customer in another part of town would see. Location changes local answers.
- A trend. One answer can differ from the next. Paid SEARCH ONE plans ask your questions every week.
Questions
Which assistant does this ask?
Google's Gemini, with Google Search switched on, so it can look things up the way it does for a real person. It doesn't check ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot or Google's AI Overviews. Each of those can give a different answer.
Why might I get a different answer tomorrow?
AI answers change from one ask to the next, and with the person's location, past chats and wording. One check is a snapshot, not a ranking. That's why the paid SEARCH ONE plans ask the same questions every week and show the trend.
My business wasn't named. What should I do?
Look at the sources the assistant used. Those are the pages it trusted for this question. Common fixes: make sure AI search crawlers can read your site, say clearly on your home page what you do and where, keep your Google Business Profile complete, and get listed on the directories and local sites that came up.
Do you save my question?
No. The question goes to Gemini once to get the answer, and we don't store it or the result.
Why only 3 checks a day?
Each check is a real request to Gemini with Google Search, which costs us money. The limit keeps the tool free for everyone.
