In plain words
A customer in Jaipur types "root canal cost near me". Another in Austin types "emergency plumber near me". Either way, Google has a moment to decide which pages answer. SEO is making sure yours is one it can open, read and trust.
That means the page loads without errors, its title and main heading say clearly what it's about, it has enough real content to be useful, and the rest of your site links to it.
What SEO looks at
Can Google open the page?
It loads without an error, nothing tells Google to stay away (a noindex tag or a robots.txt block), and it isn't hidden behind a script.
A clear title and description
The title is what people click in search results. Keep it specific and short enough that Google shows it in full.
One main heading, in a logical order
One H1 that says what the page is, then H2 and H3 sections that follow on from it.
Enough useful content
Words that answer the search, not padding. A service page with two lines rarely beats one that explains price, process and area.
Links and a sitemap
Your important pages are in the menu or linked from other pages, and listed in a sitemap that robots.txt points to.
Speed on a phone
Many local searches happen on phones. A page that takes seconds to show its main content loses people before they read it.
From our own work
What a real audit found
Real example: the home page of milapinternational.in, audited with SEARCH ONE on 9 October 2026, shown with the owner's agreement. Search foundations: 80 out of 100.
The page opened without errors, Google wasn't blocked, the sitemap was linked from robots.txt and all 21 images had alt text. The basics were sound.
Four quick fixes stood out. There was no main (H1) heading at all. The title ran to 82 characters and the description to 191, both longer than Google usually shows. And some heading levels were skipped.
Each of those takes about ten minutes in the site's editor. That's typical: most small business sites don't need a rebuild, they need a short list of exact fixes.

Questions
Is SEO still worth it now that people ask AI?
Yes. Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode are built on the same index as normal results, and Google says there are no extra technical requirements to appear in them. A page Google can't find or understand won't be quoted either.
How long does SEO take?
Changes to titles and headings are picked up the next time Google crawls the page, often within days on a small site. Climbing for competitive searches usually takes months. Nobody can honestly promise you a position.
Can I do SEO myself?
The basics, yes: a clear title and one main heading per page, useful content, and a page that's fast on a phone. SEARCH ONE gives you the exact fix for each page. Get help for big technical problems or a site rebuild.
Do I have to pay Google to appear?
No. Normal results can't be bought. Google Ads are separate paid placements, marked as sponsored.
