SEO and AI search for CA firms in India

CA firms work under tighter rules than most businesses. ICAI's website guidelines rule out much of normal marketing: fees, client names, testimonials, rankings and "best firm" claims. That makes the usual SEO advice wrong for you.

What's left is what AI search values anyway: clear descriptions of your services, qualified people, and genuinely useful professional updates that answer the questions taxpayers and businesses ask.

What clients search for

These are the questions to answer on your own pages, in plain words, near the top. They're common examples; your calls, messages and reviews will add your own.

  • "How do I register for GST?"
  • "What is the due date for filing ITR this year?"
  • "What documents are needed for a company audit?"
  • "How do I respond to an income tax notice?"
  • "What is the difference between an LLP and a private limited company?"
  • "Do I need a tax audit for my business turnover?"

What your website needs

  1. 1

Service pages that explain, not sell

GST, income tax, audit, company registration: what each service covers and the process, in plain words. Describing your services is allowed.

  2. 2

    Partner profiles within the rules

Names, qualifications and areas of practice, with passport-style photos as the guidelines allow.

  3. 3

Professional updates that answer real questions

Short, accurate explainers on due dates, rule changes and common notices, each signed by a CA. This is where you earn AI answers.

  4. 4

    Office details that match everywhere

Address, phone and hours, identical on your site, Google and any directory listings.

  5. 5

    Dates on every update

Tax rules change. A visible date tells readers and engines whether an answer is still current.

Before you publish

ICAI website guidelines to respect

  • Not allowed: fees, or saying services are free; client names, logos or named testimonials; rankings or grades; "leading", "best" or "top firm" claims; awards and media coverage.
  • Also listed as not allowed: "why choose us" sections, certification mentions, event galleries and non-professional content.
  • Allowed: your own website, descriptions of professional services, professional updates and educational videos, passport-style photos.
  • These come from ICAI's advisory of 14 October 2020 and the Code of Ethics. Check the current version before publishing.

Business details for your page code

AccountingService is a type of LocalBusiness. Keep it factual: name, address, phone, hours. Leave out price and rating fields, in line with the ICAI rules. Replace everything in CAPITALS, keep every detail identical to what the page shows, then check it.

Common mistakes

  • Copying SEO advice meant for shops: prices, testimonials, "best CA in the city".
  • Tax updates with no date, still live after the rule has changed.
  • A site that lists services in one line each, with nothing that answers a question.

Questions

Can a CA firm do SEO at all?

Yes. Clear service descriptions, qualified people and useful professional updates are allowed, and they are what search engines and AI assistants look for.

Can we write articles on tax topics?

Professional updates and educational content are permitted. Keep them accurate, dated and signed, and avoid promotional language.

Should we use FAQ schema?

It's optional now: Google stopped showing FAQ results in May 2026. Visible, dated answers on the page matter more.
